Position: PF/C
Team: Indiana
Class: Freshman

2016 Draft Profile - Thomas Bryant

Strengths: The first things that stand out about Bryant are the things you can’t teach. His size and wingspan are outstanding and his body is already filling out as he is up to over 240 pounds. He also plays with a great motor and runs the floor extremely well.

He is a good rebounder, especially on the offensive end where he puts in a lot of effort. He is extremely tough and plays with an edge on the glass. His length and good hands allow him to come up with a lot of boards in traffic.

Defensively he is very focused, willing to get down in stance to guard people out on the perimeter and has decent foot speed and lateral quickness. He also has the size and physicality to bang down low and his length makes him a pain as he alters and blocks a good amount of shots.

Offensively he is raw, but has shown the potential of a good inside-out game. He has a couple of solid post moves and has shooting range out to the three-point line.

Weaknesses: As was said earlier, Bryant is still extremely raw on both sides of the floor. At this stage he relies more on physical tools than skill to affect games, which leads to inconsistency.

While Bryant does have a solid jumper, he can fall in love with it at the expense of being down on the block, which is where he needs to develop most. A more diverse post game would make him extremely difficult to contain on offense.

Defensively, he needs to improve his off-ball awareness like most young players. He can be late on rotations and he lacks the explosiveness to make up for recognizing plays late.
