2016 Draft Profile - Grayson Allen

Strengths: Allen has potential as a combo guard in the NBA due to his outstanding scoring ability and athleticism.

He has great range on his jumper and is not afraid to let it fly at any time. He is also a solid ball handler who can get to the basket and his athleticism allows him to finish at the rim.

Defensively he is very tough and physical. He has good lateral quickness to keep guys in front of him and never backs down. He enjoys the big stage and always wants the ball in his hands when the game is on the line.

Weaknesses: Allen continues to be one of the most polarizing prospects in the entire draft. While he is a talented scorer he has struggled to score against elite athletes and defenders. Players with length have also given him problems, especially when trying to finish in the paint.

There is also the issue of Allen’s position at the next level. He is not a natural point guard and struggles to make his teammates better, but he also lacks the size to play shooting guard regularly.

In general he is a streaky player and no one is quite sure what he will be in the NBA. He could be an explosive combo guard or a major bust. He has one of the biggest draft ranges of any prospect.
