Aaron GrayHt/Wt: 7-1 / 270 lbs
2007 Draft Profile
Gray is a legit 7-footer, and has the girth (he weighs in at 270) to handle the middle full time. Has good lower body strength helps him hold his position in the paint. A good rebounder, especially on the offensive boards, and understands how to seal his man off and get rebounds in his area. Has a nice baby hook with a good perimeter shot out to 12-15 feet. Doesn’t put the ball on the floor, once he gets the ball he goes straight up with it. Does a great job of keeping his body between the basket and the opposing defender, possessing excellent court awareness, he understands the game and is fundamentally sound. Doesn’t excel in a fast paced offense, as he is clearly more comfortable in a half court set. Improving his lateral quickness and foot speed would make this less of an issue. Not a very good athlete, and weight has been an issue in the past.
2006 Draft Profile
Took advantage of increased minutes this past year, averaged 13.9 PPG, 10.5 RPG and 1.8 APG. Has tremendous size, 270 pounds and uses to his advantage down low. Excellent rebounder, scoring most of his points down low. Decent passer. Plays tough, likes the physical play. Will be a project for which ever team drafts him, has only seen significant minutes this past season. Lack of athletic ability, agility, and weight issues will be areas of concern for some teams
