2008 Draft Profile - J.J. Hickson

Very strong, both upper body and legs, with a long wingspan. Is a natural back-to-basket player with a decent array of moves around the basket, including a fadeaway jumper. Will run the floor (but not lightening fast), and is eager to block shots.

Not a great athlete or leaper. Has no face up game yet. Still unrefined, needs better touch around basket, ball handling skills. Hands could use improvement. Needs work on defense, falls for fakes to much.

Is much like a poor man’s Brandon Bass right now, might have potential to be a Chris Wilcox type. Probably two years away from being a steady, solid contributor with the right teaching and lots of practice.
