Roy Hibbert
Ht/Wt: 7-2 / 265 lbs
Position: C
Team: Georgetown
Class: Senior

2008 Draft Profile - Roy Hibbert

Hibbert would have been a top 10 pick last year, based on his production, his showing at the tournament, and of course: his size, but projects to be a secondary C in the NBA. Without the speed and quickness necessary to guard against the young dynamic forwards seen in most "small ball" offences in the NBA, he will need to use every inch of his 7’2” frame to defend and rebound the ball. If he can do those two things, he will play in the NBA for 15 years. Quicker players will go right at him at the next level, and he'll be on the bench with 2 fouls early if he doesn’t improve his D.

STRENGTHS: First of all Roy Hibbert is huge at 7'2'' and 265. He uses his frame well, he grabs those hard rebounds scores down low easily on other centers. He has a very high IQ on the court. He uses a huge array of moves in the post to get the easiest 2. He has a nice hook that is almost pat. He is the most fundmental C in the NCAA. he has excellent hands that allows him to catch those bad passes and grabbing rebounds. He shoots well from the foul line wich is a plus because he will be seeing it alot. He is also very efficient on the post. His jumper is coming along so he can spread the D and open the lane. His work ethic is incredible considering that he used to be called a big stiff. He also has been winning for some time now in the NCAA. He has alot of experince he's always seeing the NCAA tournements.

WEAKNESSES: Since Roy is so big he is not the most athletic C in the NCAA but how many 7'2'' guys do you see. Even though he is very efficient in the post his mechanics are only average. He also has trouble with lateral quickness so he will have trouble guarding the smaller more athletic C in the NBA. His condition is not up to par he will need to work hard to fix that. Teams dont know how much better he will get over the years but he will make an impact from the get-go.

2007 Draft Profile

A center with great size and strength, an excellent touch on his shot displaying his soft hands. Very good free throw shooter, around 80% which is especially important for a center as it will equate into some easy points. A smart player who has a good understanding of his role and what to do on the court and is developing some nice post moves. His decision making has improved, has good vision and passing ability with a calm demeanor, and never gets out of control or loses his cool. Has the size to block shots and rebound inside without jumping. Needs to work on his lateral quickness and speed in the open court. The added quickness will improve his defense and shot blocking ability.
