Position: PF
Team: Gonzaga
Class: Senior

2009 Draft Profile - Josh Heytvelt

Josh Heytvelt is one of the more underrated players in this draft. He was projected to be a possible lottery pick a couple years ago, but then ran into minor legal problems. Since then, he has re-dedicated himself and gained back the complete respect of his Gonzaga teammates. He did not post incredible numbers, but watching him go head to head with some of the best big men in the country illustrated how effective he can be. He has a variety of skills which enables him to do more than just play down low. Some of his most developed attributes are his athleticism, great hands, good vision, constant nose for the ball, and a nice shooting touch. He can stretch the defense with his abililty to knock down jumpers, and then he has quickness and agility to attack if bigs do not close out well. Heytvelt may go anywhere from mid to late first round, but it will be a great pick wherever he gets selected. He can really help a team with his big skill set and natural ability.
