2011 Draft Profile - Donatas Motiejunas

Strengths: Above average passer for a power forward. Scouts rave about his drop-step when he posts up a defender. Willing to drive to the net and dish the ball out to the three line. Possesses an above average jump-shot. Shows potential from 3-point range.

Weaknesses: Needs to work on his post game. He relies on his left hand to much and well have shots blocked from time to time because of it. Needs to develop a right-handed shot from the paint. Recklessly flings ball for turnovers at times. Average defender that will struggle when defending more talented shooters. Needs to add 15-20 pounds to fill in his 7'0 body. Very limited in blocking ability. Shows limited potential for rebounding. NBA teams might question his effort throughout a game.

Overall: Donatas Motiejunas is a mammoth left-handed power forward who has huge potential offensively in the NBA. He is currently 20 years old and will need to develop overseas for another 2 or 3 years before playing in the NBA. He needs to learn to play defense along with bulking up so he will not get push around by NBA big men. His ability to pass the basketball as well as his ability to hit long range jumpers will overrule his currently large list of weaknesses and make him a lottery pick in this years draft.
