2011 Draft Profile - Jordan Hamilton

Hamilton struggled at times last season adapting to not being the main option but has re-emerged as one of the top college players in America. He has a calm, cool and collect demeanour with a laid back style of play but very efficient and effective. Hamilton passes the eye ball test with his sturdy frame and good height for the shooting guard position at 6'7.

His game will translate very well in the NBA because of his ability to score efficiently from mid range and behind the arc, he forces the defense to play at his pace with outstanding overall feel for the game. He shows some play making skills that can allow him to play spot minutes or emergency point guard at times. I am very impress at how he really gets at it on the boards with an above average wingspan and rebounding instincts. He can really be force in the League with all his many bags of skills.

Hamilton has the look of an NBA player. At 6ft 7 220lbs he has ideal size and strength for an NBA wing to go along with NBA level athleticism. He will excel playing with a good pg, a solid outside shooter has improved his 3pt efficiency, can catch and shoot from outside or pump fake and take it to the hole to finish or get the fouled. Decent mid range and one on one game and adept to playing physical for a wing player with a low post up presence, also finishes well in fast break. With his tools he does not appear to have any defensive or offensive weaknesses to be exploited. Despite showing a highly competitive nature doesn’t seem to have any character issues, took well to coming off the bench his freshman yr and broke out when he cracked the starting lineup this past season.

Hamilton does not look like a number 1 scoring option that teams want from a high 1st round swing man. He comes with a very well rounded but may not done 1 thing exceptionally well. Good rebounder but underachieving defender. I think Hamilton will make a smooth transition to the next level but may never be a star.
