2011 Draft Profile - Justin Harper

Harper came on strong his Junior year and into the NCAA tournament to prove that he can excel as his competition gets tougher. At 6ft 9 225lbs he has the size to develop at either forward position. Harper has a versatile offensive game and is a talented scorer, good percentages and range on his shot and athletic enough to be a get his shot off regularly with efficiency in college. Justin is a confident player, equipped at putting his team on his back and carrying them in college. A chiseled upper body, with his athleticism he should be a solid rebounder and defender if he sets his mind to it.

There will be question marks coming from a smaller school and bursting on the scene suddenly. It is up in the air what forward position Harper will play, does not play with a lot of force or presence down low, he has good range but may not have the quickness to defend NBA perimeter players.

I think Harper is a rotational forward that will add scoring coming off the bench. I am afraid he will fall in love with his outside game and be one dimensional, and not making much of an impact in the painted area. I think if he works hard to make an impact other than just shooting he can be a valuable player, I see him making a Charlie Villanueva/ Vladimir Radmanovic type of an impact.
