2011 Draft Profile - Justin Holiday

Holiday was an unselfish, athletic role player at UW who improved his game each year. His last 2 years he was known as one of the conference’s top defenders and for much of 4 years drew tough defensive assignments. Holiday is a long 6ft 6, he has quick feet and hands. He comes from an up tempo system, good athlete, plays well in transition, controls the ball well, doesn’t force a lot of turnovers despite the fast break style of play. Doesn’t try to do too much and will defer to others. He is committed to defense and crafty on offense, makes mid range shots and has improved his 3pt and FT shooting.

He has not displayed a lot of offensive game but has improved each year. Needs to get stronger and continue to improve 3pt shooting. Athletic enough to finish on breaks, but not strong enough to finish through traffic. Was not asked to be a consistent scorer in college but was capable of having a big game, which shows he was not a liability. Brother of NBA starter Jrue Holiday, he is thought to be a good enough athlete and unselfish team oriented guy.

The good thing about Holiday is that you will ask him to do the same thing in the NBA as he did in college which is to be a role player. He shows a good character for this role. Needs to get a little stronger, improve 3pt shot and take pride in his defense. Hopes are that he will get some spot minutes to develop into a NBA role player.
