2011 Draft Profile - Keith Benson

Benson's main attribute is some serious length. He displays above average timing with his blocks, and while he most certainly has to put on weight, he is legitimate interior defender. What he isnt is particularly strong. So he's likely to play a bit more on the perimeter than one would want from a guy his size. That being the case he needs to work on his shooting. The other knock on Benson is that he lacks a killer instinct. This is maybe a product of the small school system he played in. His skill set is pretty decent, and he has the ability to post up. But in the NBA establishing position is something that will require a lot of strength training. That all said, he's got a good Basketball IQ and gives the impression of being a hard worker. He's a senior so GMs are going to wonder if he has as much upside as some younger guys. Still, he may end up a real value when taken in the second round.
