Marcus MorrisHt/Wt: 6-9 / 230 lbs
2011 Draft Profile - Marcus MorrisA very solid, low risk prospect. Morris improved each of his 3 seasons playing at a great talent developing program, he finished the regular season as conference player of the year leading his team to a #1 national ranking. At 6ft9 230lb Marcus has good size and length, he is almost filled out enough to be ideal size for a PF and has the athleticism to play SF. Runs the floor and finishes well in transition, efficient on the blocks, assertive, doesn’t hesitate when he is open or on the glass, uses a nice turnaround jumper, good jump shooter when open. He made big plays on defense when it counted, decent rebounder. A high character guy, unselfish teammate, and has had good coaching.
He ended his college career in a disappointing upset, aside from a couple moves down low mainly relied on athleticism and playing in a good offense. Despite having the athleticism to play on the wing he does not have the range to play there, should probably fill out a little more to play PF and commit to defense more.
Right now Marcus will at least be a valuable player off the bench. With a little more bulk and toughness he can be a good starting PF. Because he may not have the ceiling that some of the international prospects have Marcus will probably go middle 1st rd and should make the team better right away. If he continues to make improvements he made in college with the same desire I can see him getting all star consideration down the road.
