2011 Draft Profile - Markieff Morris

Close to identical prospect to his identical brother. His brother was the #1 scoring option for KU while Markieff was more of the defensive anchor down low. Markieff is not quite as athletic from outside but a little bigger and better rebounder. I don’t think he will have to adjust his game as much as his brother as he is a more natural PF and used to being a blue collar role player down low, he certainly has the size, fundamentals and athleticism to match up with PFs down low. His defensive is good enough to maybe become a specialist on that end, while he also does not try to do to much offensively, is reliable and good shooting %. Solid, low risk prospect, good character and teammate from a great program.

His assist/ turnover ratio is concerning, he does not have the ceiling to become a star. Doesn’t have great hands or go to moves down low. Since he is going to be a low post role player would like to see him play with more of an edge and attitude. A little more strength will not hurt either.

This is the Robin to Brook Lopez. All accounts are his twin is a higher prospect, but Markieff may be able to produce as much value as a role player for the team that selects him.
