2011 Draft Profile - Norris ColeStrengths: Has baseline to baseline speed. Uses his speed to penetrate to the basket and score. Knows how to finish off a fast break with a dunk. He is a crafty point guard who know how to steal the ball and finish at the other end. He has a little bit of two guard in him but can pass the ball like a decent point guard. Has great vision of the court and can find his teammates down low in the paint. He contests jump shot well without getting into foul trouble. In three games versus Butler, he averaged 21.6 ppg. Knows how to finish when fouled in the act of shooting. A confident but unselfish player that is team oriented and has drive to win. Lead the team in points per game, assists and steals in the 2010-2011 season. Lead the Cleveland State Vikings the best overall record in the Horizon league. Decent three point shooter (35.6%). Reliable free throw shooter (85.3%)
Weaknesses: Did not face elite competition in the Horizon league, with the exception being Butler. Shies away from taking a charge which allows for easy baskets. He game diminishes when he is not handling the ball. Will be 23 years old when the 2011-2012 regular season begins. He needs to add 10-15 pounds of weight as he is thinner than an average NBA point guard of his size (6'1) normally is.
Overall:Norris Cole is a true sleeper in this year's draft. His ability to score the ball with efficiency along with his explosive speed, sneaky stealing ability and passing ability will sneak him into the late first round first round. He will be a quality backup to a playoff team that is in need of a one guard that can run an offense when the starting point guard is on the bench.
