2011 Draft Profile - Tyler Honeycutt
I like Honeycutt as a tall sg in the NBA. At 6-9 and less than 200lbs he is skinny but he has NBA level athleticism and outside shooting range. He is best at slashing to the basket, but is also good on the fast break. He handles the ball like a guard and can also take his man off the dribble taking a straight line to the hoop. Honeycutt was also a volleyball star and makes a ton of athletic plays on loose balls with his length and quickness. He rebounds well and leads the conference in blocks.Honeycutt’s value could sky rocket if he comes back to school and becomes more efficient. His FG% has dropped significantly as a Soph, but his FT% got much needed improvement, also the turnovers are a little high. There is no reason to think if he returns he can develop as a player that can take over games which would see him picked in the lottery. I think he has a hard time gaining weight which is why I like him as a sg where he would be a defensive and rebounding ace. Still so young and coming off a volleyball career I think in time if he improves his pull up game and accuracy from 3 he will be a solid starter on the wing down the road.
