2012 Draft Profile - Herb Pope
Pope 's story is well known. He has fought through a lot of hardship and injury, and emerged as a legitimate early second round prospect. Pope is a bit of an old school four. He has heavy tree trunk legs and is tough to move out of the paint. His handle is decent for a big man, even if his shooting range remains limited. Its not terrible mind you, but its limited. What Pope does bring is a terrific work ethic and toughness. He projects as a four, and is going to have to learn some of the nuances of the position. It may be a learning curve of a year or two, but Pope has the physical make up to stick as a back up power forward. He isn't an elite athlete, but he can run and his lateral movement is surprisingly good for his size. Not a shot blocker per se, he does have a genuine court sense and you rarely see him out of position. This is not a kid you'd want to bet against.Player profile submitted by: John Steppling
