2013 Draft Profile - Michael Snaer

I admit to being a fan of Snaer. As a defender, Snaer projects to be a guy who can guard, when needed, three positions. Quicker than given credit for, he is also tenacious on the defensive end. At Florida State he has had to play both guard positions, and the truth is, he is not in any way a point guard. But its a credit to his basketball intelligence that he has done all that is asked of him in reasonably effective ways. He has also shown steady improvement in his shooting, though looking ahead that's not going to be his calling card in the NBA. Where Snaer goes in the draft will depend on how he is viewed defensively. At 6'4" Snaer is a bit undersized as a two guard, but like many others, that shouldnt really be an impediment ... for again, his core strength is above average and he can fight through screens as well as anyone. His biggest deficiency is ball handling. Driving to the basket is not a strong suit for Snaer. All told, he is a guy who is going to get looks in the 2nd round as a plus defender with a good worth ethic and basic toughness.
