2013 Draft Profile - Otto Porter

Porter has been something of a sleeper until this year. He has already shown marked improvement on the offensive end, and his defense was never in question. Porter has the length to cause a lot of disruption in passing lanes, and he demonstrates good hoop IQ in positioning. He may not have outstanding lateral quickness, but he compensates for this with his extreme length. His perimeter shooting has improved but still isn't particularly good. So where does that leave Porter as a prospect? Well, he probably is the not quite Paul George right now, with shades of Tayshaun Prince. Can his shot keep getting better? Id say yes. His scoring at mid range is phenomenal. His touch is excellent, and again, because of his size and basic quickness to the basket, he hasnt suffered due to a faulty jump shot. Defensively he is simply outstanding, effectively, despite average lateral movement. I expect Porter to be a top twenty pick, and maybe top fifteen.
