2013 Draft Profile - Reggie BullockI've been a fan of Bullock for a couple years now. Bullock however, has been the victim of a series of nagging injuries, none of which was devastating, but all of which slowed his development. Bullock at 6' 7" has one of the prettier looking shots in the entire NCAA. He has the perfect size for a two guard or small forward, and overall has shown a good grasp of what to do while on the floor. So why is he seen as only a second round prospect? I think some of this is related to injuries, and some to the role he fills on the Tarheel team. The facts are, Bullock's numbers have gone up each season, and this year he is shooting an outstanding 47% of his threes, and 51% over all. Those are first round numbers.
While Bullock is not a creator, he is a silky well coordinated player who seems rarely to be making mistakes. The weakest point of his game is probably ball handling, and this limitation has resulted in a game predicated on outside shots. That said, he is making those shots.
Defensively Bullock is a high plus defender. Not the strongest kid on the court, Bullock is a sound defender, and instinctively pressures the opposing team through his consistent effort and quick lateral movement. Projecting Reggie to the next level is tricky. He can shoot, and he can shoot with range. That means he has a home in the NBA. How high he goes depends on how well he performs in individual workouts, if he learns to go left, and develops a better passing sense. But overall, as a second round pick, Bullock might be something of a steal.
