2014 Draft Profile - Dante Exum

Dante Exum is a very intriguing Australian prospect. He doesn't turn 19 until July and has developed as a 6' 6" lanky combo guard. Very comfortable running the offense and handling the ball in the open court, he shows good court vision and shot making ability. Exum is exceptionally versatile and has a nice stroke out to 3 point range and should improve effeciency. He is comfortable backing down smaller players or blowing by guys in the open court. Scouts also like his defensive potential and creativity.

Exum has grown up playing against older competition, but such as international players, there is a mystery since he hasn't been able to develop in the same style and competition level as his draft peers. Many of his highlights look like plays that will not succeed in the NBA. Very similar to Rubio who has been a disappointment, but comparing to Rubio, Exum has even more length, raw athleticism and ability to score.

Dante has grown up as a superstar and carries himself comfortable, but not cocky, with that expectation. His comps are Shawn Livingston, Michael Carter-Williams, in time possibly Penny Hardaway or Scottie Pippen. He is definitely a project but carries tremendous upside.
