2013 Draft Profile - Rodney Purvis

Once a commit to Louisville, but switched to north carolina state, Purvis is most distinguished by a very mature body for a player his age. In the sense Dion Waiters did. He is a powerful slasher, with decent enough ball handling skills, something that will no doubt continue to improve. His quickness is above average and he finishes very clean and strong.

His game is far from finished however. It's too early to tell exactly where he stands at the skill level. Not an elite catch and shoot guy, nor a shooter with great range, Purvis will have the attention of scouts from day one simply based on being so visibly explosive and confident. This is a young player, and his defense is a work in progress...but there is no reason to think he cant be a plus defender, and maybe an elite defender. There isn't much 'not' to like about Purvis, it only remains to seen how much he works on developing his hoop IQ.
