2015 Draft Profile - Cameron Payne

Strengths:
Payne has been one of the biggest risers on everyone’s draft boards in recent weeks. A pure point He is also difficult to contain in transition as well as in the half court. He knows how to change speeds in the half court to get to his spots and has a great in-between game that consists of shoguard who does an excellent job of mixing up when to score and pass, Payne has one of the best basketball IQs in this draft class.

Payne is capable of scoring in a number of different ways. He has excellent range on his jumper as well as a quick release. rt jumpers and floaters.

He is extremely unselfish and is always looking to set up his teammates. He has great court vision and creativity on his passes. Defensively his long arms and anticipation allow him to jump passing lanes and he has solid lateral quickness.

Weaknesses:
Payne is not a good finisher at the rim. He can rely on his floater a lot which many times is due to his inability to finish inside. This is more concerning considering the level of competition he played against at Murray State.

He is more quick than athletic and he will need to add some weight to his frame. He can be bullied by bigger guards and most point guards at the NBA-level are big these days.

He also tended to lose focus on defense at times. Some of this may have to do with the offensive burden he carried, but he could be seen getting out of stance and struggles to get through screens.

Statistics:
PPG: 20.2 RPG: 3.7 APG: 6.0 SPG: 1.9 BPG: 0.5 FG%: 45.6 FT%: 78.7 3PT%: 37.7
