Devin Booker
Ht/Wt: 6' 5" / 186 lbs
Position: SG

Class: Freshman

2015 Draft Profile - Devin Booker

Strengths
Devin Booker is pretty clearly the best shooter in this draft. In an age where shooting is at a premium, Booker brings the ability to stretch the floor and knock down open jumpers.

He brings solid size at the shooting guard position and despite not being an elite athlete, has proven himself to be a more than adequate defender. Booker has been solid both on-ball and in help defense situations, though he will likely never be known as a lockdown guy.

Booker is also an extremely intelligent player. He has a high basketball IQ with excellent understanding of spacing. He is an efficient player who plays within himself and takes good shots leading to excellent percentages across the board.

Weaknesses
As was said earlier, Booker’s speed and athleticism is merely average. Though he is not poor, he isn’t gonna blow by anyone and will struggle to contain quicker players at the NBA level.

Booker will also need to work on his ballhandling. He isn’t great at creating his own shot and will have to improve his ability to get to the basket. He’s an excellent shooter, but he is averaging only two free throw attempts per game.

Player Comparison
Booker will definitely need to improve his ability to create his own shot, but his high basketball IQ and ability to shoot in all situations is similar to that of an early JJ Redick.

Much like Redick, Booker is able to fit in with a good team defense philosophy and will need to develop other parts of his offensive game to really flourish at the next level. His shooting will make him an asset for years.
