2015 Draft Profile - J.P. Tokoto

Strengths
Although statistically his numbers don't significantly stand out, Tokoto is still a projected second round pick as a versatile forward with elite athleticism that he uses on both ends of the floor. Offensively, he's a work in progress, but defensively is where Tokoto shows he's ready for the next level.

Tokoto is a great on-ball defender who sees the floor very well for a forward. He has a decent wingspan to go along with his athleticism, which allows him to guard multiple positions. His length allows him to deflect passes and alter many shot attempts, something that doesn't show on the stat sheet. Tokoto's quick feet allow him to stay in front of most any guard or wing player. Overall, he's just a very well-rounded defensive player.

Offensively, he's a terrific passer with excellent court vision, which is not normal for someone as raw as he is skill-wise. He is very unselfish and always gets others involved with his playmaking ability. Tokoto also plays well in transition, using his athleticism and length to run the floor and finish with authority.

Weaknesses
Tokoto's biggest concerns come on the offensive end. He comes into the draft lacking the ability to create his own offense off-the-dribble. That being said, he also struggles shooting from the perimeter. Tokoto lacks consistency everywhere offensively, which is a big concern for teams who may be interested in his defense.

Although great defensively, Tokoto still needs to add more strength to his body, which would help him guard bigger and stronger forwards he may run into. Many small forwards in the NBA have the ability to post up nowadays, which could allow them to use their size advantage on players like Tokoto.

Many questioned why Tokoto decided to skip his senior season and enter the draft, but Tokoto believes his defensive talent will land him on an NBA roster while he improves his offense during the off-season.
