Jarell Martin
Ht/Wt: 6' 9" / 224 lbs
Position: PF
Team: LSU
Class: Sophomore

2015 Draft Profile - Jarell Martin

Strengths
Martin is listed at 6'9, and there are questions on how accurate that is. Nonetheless he has a good size for a power forward at 236 pounds going into the NBA draft. He averaged 16.9 ppg and 9.2 rebounds, playing solid on both ends of the floor.

He has shown quickness in the open floor with his athleticism, as well as impressive explosiveness around the rim. Martin has also shown ability to be a balanced scorer as his jump shot has range and is improving. A promising face-up game allows him to take the ball strong to the rim and his ball-handling skills are above average for his size.

Weaknesses
Being a power forward, Martin needs to use his strength and size more efficiently when playing down-low. He has a tendency of fading away from contact, which includes a flat shot with no elevation. He only shot 13.1 percent of his field-goal attempts from post-up situations, which probably has to do with his confidence to play strong in the paint.

Although Martin does have the ability to face up, he needs to improve his shooting percentage from three if he wants to be a stretch four at the next level. His percentage plummeted from 33.3 percent his freshman year to 26.9 percent this past season at LSU.

Martin also has to improve from the free throw line - shooting only 69 percent from the stripe. Overall, Martin is a work in progress but does have the talent to succeed at the next level.
