Position: SG
Team: UNLV
Class: Freshman

2015 Draft Profile - Rashad Vaughn

Strengths
Vaughn has a rare combination of size and strength, to go along with his ability to score from anywhere on the court at the young age of 18. Although his season ended in February due to a torn meniscus in his left knee, Vaughn still managed to crack the top-three in freshmen scoring at 17.8 PPG (and the other two are top-five pick candidates Jahlil Okafor and D'Angelo Russell). He's a strong, athletic wing that can attack the basket with ease, while also being able to shoot from the perimeter.

Vaughn has an NBA-ready body to go along with the physicality and athleticism that allows him to be effective in both the half-court set, as well as in transition. He has an excellent combination of ball handling and power and ability that makes him difficult to stop when attacking the basket.

Vaughn is also effective as a slasher and can create on his own by shooting from the outside, pulling up from mid-range, and finishing with authority. He has plenty of room to grow as he is only 18 and possesses a number of offensive skills that can translate to the next level.

Weaknesses
Although he possesses great size at six-foot-six, Vaughn lacks elite length for being for being so athletic. However, the biggest concern for NBA scouts on Vaughn is his inability to be an efficient scorer.

At times Vaughn has a tendency of forcing shots and has questionable decision-making skills. He must improve his shot selection and know when to give the ball up, since most players won't like a selfish rookie who thinks he can do it on his own. As good as he is at scoring, Vaughn also needs to work on being more consistent when shooting from deep. He will also need to improve on the defensive end as he is inconsistent on that side of the floor.

He is coming off the torn meniscus in his knee and hasn't played since February.
