Position: SG
Team: Wichita St.
Class: RS Junior

2015 Draft Profile - Ron Baker

Pros: The progress that Ron Baker has made from the end of his high school career up to this point is incredible. He wasn't even heralded as a high major, even a mid-major recruit. Baker has proved his doubters wrong, and now has landed on many NBA scouts' radars. Baker is arguably this years most well rounded player: he can shoot, pass, score, defend and get to the basket. He has a pretty good frame for his position (6"3, 220 lbs), and , dare I say, compares to Dwyane Wade (6"4 , 220 lbs). Bakers size allows him to play the two-guard position very well, getting better each and every year. He possesses great shooting form, with the correct fundamentals; his elbow is in, shows a good arc, and can knock down shots with regularity (38 percent from three last year). Should look to be Wichita State's leading scorer with Cleanthony Early off to the NBA.

Cons: A jack-of-all trades player, he doesn't have that one standout skill. Needs to become an even better shooter, as that may be the main skill that can set him apart from the rest. He doesn't have the lateral quickness and athleticism to defend the quicker NBA guards. He is also a bit undersized to play the shooting guard position, so he will need to develop his point guard abilities more this season.
