2016 Draft Profile - Brice Johnson
Strengths: Brice Johnson has a perfect mix of size, scoring instincts and mobility at 6’9”, 228 pounds. He’s an athletic power forward who uses his length and athleticism at both ends of the floor.Johnson is also a quick and explosive leaper that can create havoc defensively with his rebounding and by both blocking and altering shots consistently.
Although his first three years at UNC were somewhat underwhelming, Johnson’s senior year was dominant as he lead them to a Final Four run and played with the same passion every night that NBA coaches will love having from a rookie.
Weaknesses: Johnson has built his frame throughout his career at UNC, but he’ll still need to add strength as he takes his talent to the NBA level.
Since power forwards are now seen stretching out the floor more in the NBA, he needs to continue to improve his perimeter game. He has made strides in putting the ball on the floor and creating, but still needs to work on those facets of his game.
Overall, Johnson’s inside production is enough to hold his own at the next level. But if he wants to make a bigger impact, his athleticism and versatility will have to be used with a better outside game.
