2016 Draft Profile - Cheick Diallo

Strengths: Cheick Diallo may not be the most skilled recruit in this class, but there is not a single player, regardless of position, who is more active and plays with a higher motor.

Diallo is an excellent athlete who specializes on the defensive end and on the boards. He has the speed and lateral quickness to chase smaller players on the perimeter and is great as a weakside shot blocker. He runs baseline to baseline and is a terror on the boards, especially as an offensive rebounder.

Most of his offense comes as a finisher and he is a great one thanks to his athleticism. He is good in transition and finishes above the rim with authority.

Weaknesses: Diallo’s athleticism and motor carries him at this point because he is not particularly skilled, especially on the offensive end. He lacks overall polish and has no real offensive moves to speak of other than being able to finish strong.

Physically, Diallo will need to add strength to his frame if he plans on banging down low on a regular basis. He can be pushed around at times and is a better weakside helper than post defender.

Overall Diallo just lacks the feel for the game that other top players possess. But with his physical skills and motor, he will be an impact player regardless, and a possible star if his offensive skills develop.
