2016 Draft Profile - Jake Layman
Strengths : While he may not have the pure potential of other players in this draft class, Layman projects as an NBA-ready small forward with his combination of shooting and athleticism.Layman is a very good athlete for his size. He has great lateral quickness and has the potential to be a great defender at the next level because of his length and athleticism. He should be able to defend multiple positions.
Offensively he has three-point range and is improving as a creator off the dribble. He also uses his athleticism to be a factor on the glass.
Weaknesses : Layman could stand to add some weight to his frame as he is still relatively thin. With the physical specimens the NBA has at small forward, he will need to be stronger to deal with them regularly.
While he improving, Layman does need to be a better playmaker off the dribble. He is decent in a straight line, but needs to improve his ballhandling in order to be more of a factor other than as a spot-up shooter or slasher.
