Kris Dunn
Ht/Wt: 6' 4" / 205 lbs
Position: PG
Team: Providence
Class: Junior

2016 Draft Profile - Kris Dunn

Strengths: Kris Dunn made one of the more surprising decisions in choosing to return to Providence for his junior year. Time will tell whether or not he made the right choice, but he remains one of the best point guards of this class.

Dunn has a great combination of size, strength, and speed for the point guard position. He can get anywhere he wants on offense and does a solid job of balancing scoring with distributing. He shines in the pick-and-roll, keeping defenders on his back while probing the defense.

Defensively, Dunn is one of the best in the nation at racking up steals. He has an outstanding wingspan that allows him to stay in passing lanes. Additionally, he has the quickness to stay in front of most guards. He is a potentially elite player on that side of the ball.

Weaknesses: Dunn is more of a scorer than distributor at this stage of his career. He has the vision to be a true point guard, but is still more comfortable getting his own shot right now.

He also turns the ball over too much at times. Many are avoidable turnovers as he can get caught in the air or try to make a play that just isn’t there. His shot selection suffers as well as he can force some bad looks, though as the lone star at Providence some of that could be by design.

Dunn will need to improve as a shooter as he operates almost exclusively from around 18 feet and in. Being more consistent from three-point range is a necessity.
