2016 Draft Profile - Malcolm Brogdon

Strengths: He may be one of the oldest prospects heading into the NBA draft at 23 years old, but Malcolm Brogdon is a fundamentally sound guard that made vast improvements in his four years at the University of Virginia.

The ACC Player of the Year can do a little bit of everything on both ends, and has a high basketball IQ to go with it. He’s a good shooter with three-point range and is a tough, physical defender. Although he stands at an average shooting guard height Brogdon has great length and a wingspan to make up for it.

Brodgon improved throughout the years and finished his senior year averaging 18.2 points per game, leading Virginia to an Elite Eight run in the NCAA tournament.

Weaknesses: Although Brogdon can do a bit of everything on the offensive end, there isn’t anything in particular that stands out about his game. Another knock on Brogdon is that he isn’t an elite athlete and many wonder what his production level will be at the NBA level.

Also, though he comes into the draft as one of the more developed players due to the fact he played four years in college, he’s very old (23 years old) for a draftee.

It will be important for Brogdon to have a strong outing in his pre-draft workouts with teams as he tries to solidify or move up in the draft boards.
