2016 Draft Profile - Zhou Qi

Strengths: The first thing pretty apparent about Zhou Qi is his size. His height and length are absolutely outstanding and he uses that to be an absolute force on defense as a shot blocker.

Offensively, he is extremely skilled on the low block with great footwork and a solid array of post moves. He has good instincts down low and is a very good passer as well, capable of finding open shooters.

He is a good athlete for his size, which serves him well on both ends of the floor, but is also a high IQ player who doesn’t force things or make dumb mistakes.

Weaknesses: The biggest concern for Zhou Qi at this time is his frame. He is very thin at only 209 pounds, and some wonder whether his frame will be able to adequately add the weight necessary to play in the NBA.

He is just a very weak player in general and despite how skilled he is on both ends, his lack of strength is apparent. He will get tossed around by NBA-level big men and will have a very difficult time establishing post position on offense.

Qi’s motor has also come into question at times and as someone who already lacks strength, he can’t afford to not work at all times.
