2017 Draft Profile - Alec Peters
Strengths: Alec Peters has the potential to be the prototypical stretch four in the NBA. He shot 41.2 percent from three in his career at Valparaiso, and was even better in catch-and-shoot situations. He is more than just a shooter though, as towards the end of his college career he developed some post moves and demonstrates an ability to finish with nice touch around the rim. Peters also shot 85 percent from the free throw line in his college career.
Peters also proved to be a superb passer for a big man, as his court vision allowed him to setup his teammates when he did not get open looks for himself.
Weaknesses:
Peters is not the most athletic or biggest player at his position, so his difficulties will come when he’s matched up against bigger, stronger and faster players, particularly on the defensive end of the floor. He does not block shots or rebound much, but he does have a high IQ and is a hard worker.
Offensively Peters still needs to work on his interior scoring and getting to the basket off the dribble. Defenders will know how good of a shooter he is, so they will try to take that aspect of his game away, meaning he will need to find other ways to score.
