2017 Draft Profile - De'Aaron Fox

Strengths: De’Aaron Fox’s biggest strength has to be his speed and quickness, coupled with his size. Not many players can rival his speed in the open floor, and Fox himself knows that so he likes to push the ball.

With speed like his he can get to the basket with ease, and his athletic ability gives him the ability to finish over just about anyone. Not only can he finish at the rim, but he is a very underrated midrange scorer, and that can also extend behind the three-point line.

Defensively, he is an excellent on-ball defender and has great hands when it comes to ripping ball handlers.

Weaknesses: Fox needs to work on getting stronger, which should come with time for the 19-year-old. He does not absorb contact well around the basket because of his thin frame.

He also needs to work on his decision-making. With someone that plays with as much speed as he does, it can often lead to them trying to play too fast and doing too much, which has been the case at times for Fox. Him slowing down a bit and playing more under control will help him limit his turnovers.

Another aspect of his game he can improve is his outside shot. He is a very streaky shooter, but right now just lacks the consistency to be considered a good shooter.
