Isaiah HartensteinHt/Wt: 6'11" / 225 lbs
2017 Draft Profile - Isaiah HartensteinStrengths: Perhaps his biggest strength going into a potential NBA Draft Combine is the fact that his body is prepared for the NBA, even though he is just 18 years old. His stature is certainly fitted to the NBA scale, as he is in great shape for the up-tempo pace of the NBA.
Although he is a power forward/center type of player, he has ball handling to take other big men off the floor and to the basket. Likes the ball in his hand around the perimeter, using a chance of pace and crossovers to create his own shot.
When focused, his defense seems to be above par, as he can keep up with smaller players and slide his feet around the basket. He also can handle the physicality against back-down centers and is an above average rebounder at a young age.
Weaknesses: Although Hartenstein does like the ball in his hand, he wonít be facing any lackluster defensive players in the NBA. His one major flaw has been his outburst on the court, as he has been seen blaming his teammates and having episodes while on the court.
He can be easily influenced when faced with adversity on the court, with bad body language when things donít go in his favor. Definitely a negative sign for many potential scouts interested in him, as he will have to make a concerted effort to escape that label.
His mechanics arenít exactly prototypical, especially with his out-of-rhythm three-point attempts. Hartenstein often settles for inconsistent jump shots with the ball in his hand, even though his size can score in the paint.
His decision-making will definitely need to improve moving forward, as he is often cited as telegraphing his passes and making the unconventional decision. He often settles for isolation ball and makes defensive mistakes.
