Jonathan Isaac
Ht/Wt: 6'10" / 210 lbs
Position: SF
Team: Florida State
Class: Freshman

2017 Draft Profile - Jonathan Isaac

Strengths: Isaac’s lengthy frame allow him to run very fluidly on the court, often filling up the wings on the fast break just like a guard would. He is very light on his feet, which creates great agility on the court.

His 7’ 1” wingspan and 9’ 1” reach allow him to not only make impact plays on rebound and defense, but give him an advantage around the rim offensively. Paired with his stellar footwork, he can turn into a cutting forward that can benefit from a lot of lobs and easy baskets through their offense.

His offensive skillset is a huge advantage while executing off the wing, because his ball handling is able to create different opportunities when he is closed out on. As a small forward, his ball handling will set him apart, as he is known for his crossover abilities.

His shot has shown consistency at times, but he should still be considered a streak shooter that can get hot. During game play, his isn’t shy of pulling up and has a nice form when shooting off a pass.

Weaknesses: Just like many college athletes attempting to enter the NBA after their freshman campaign, Isaac certainly lacks physicality and strength on the court. While driving to lane, he is often bumped by other players, which moves him off course towards the basket.

While he does own tremendous ball handling skills for his size, his offensive game still needs to be polished. His jump shot does need to produce consistent results moving forward, while his post moves and moves around the paint need an improve touch.

On the defensive side, Isaac needs to work on his defensive discipline. He can often fall asleep off of his man and doesn’t give 100 percent effort when battling against offensively talented players. His lack of strength is also a huge mismatch on the block, as other big men can score on him with ease.

With that lack of strength, his rebounding has truly suffered. During box out situations, big men often get better position on him and can force tip outs or coral rebound themselves.
