Markelle FultzHt/Wt: 6' 5" / 186 lbs
2017 Draft Profile - Markelle FultzStrengths: Fultz resides amongst maybe a handful of other college/international players that can reside as the No. 1 pick in the upcoming NBA Draft. His team hasnít exactly kept up with the pace he has set, which often makes it seem as if he is playing 1-on-5 out there.
His offensive arsenal is perhaps the most complete of any prospect, without many negatives to say. He is a versatile guard that can bring the ball up the court or wait for the offense to dictate towards him. With a rapidly developed game, Fultz always plays under control and never rushes anything on the floor, which is a great characteristic of a ball handler.
He is a fluid athlete and can read the court very well, which allows him to find his open teammates when he is often facing double teams or collapsed help defenders when he drives towards the rim. Fultz has a knack for getting to rim and had a strong frame to handle contact around the rim.
Fultz also isnít shy in pulling up for a jump shot, whether it is in the mid-range or out beyond the arc. His offensive arsenal is developed enough where he can take whatever option the defense gives him.
His high basketball IQ also translates over to the defensive end, with a keen ability to read opposing offenses. He creates havoc on defense, collecting many steals that lead to fast break points.
Weaknesses: While there isnít much to question about his ability to produce, some scouts question if Fultz can reside as a true point guard in the NBA. Often times, it seems as though he would be better suited as a shooting guard, but is forced into bringing the bull up the court with his sub-par team.
Fultz does tend to carry the workload for his Washington team this season, which results in a lot of responsibilities. With constant energy being used, he does lack explosiveness in draining games, but that can increase with the right work out regiment in the NBA.
Although his jump shot has vastly improved, his footwork and release going into his shot can use improvements, in order to be more consistent.
His defensive game can certainly use more attentiveness, as he can fall asleep at times. The noted casual approach at times should change moving forward, especially against quicker guards.
