Daniel Gafford
Ht/Wt: 6'11" / 235 lbs
Position: C
Team: Arkansas
Class: Soph.

2019 Draft Profile - Daniel Gafford

Sean Deveney - SportingNews - May 17th: "There isn't much room in today's NBA for standard-issue, back-to-the-basket big men, and that could hurt Gafford and Western Kentucky's Charles Bassey, who could yet return to school. Both have a shot at the first round, but only if teams can envision them defending pick-and-rolls and eventually moving their games out of the low post."

Jonathan Wasserman - Bleacher Report - May 14th: "Limited to mostly finishing and low-post moves, the 6'11", 233-pound Gafford doesn't have much margin for error, so the lower shot-blocking rate (2.8 per 40, down from 3.8 as a freshman) may hurt his stock."

Jeremy Woo - SI - Apr. 23rd: "Gafford plays an increasingly replaceable NBA role and may not be quite skilled or athletic enough to truly set himself apart. His length, fluidity and finishing will make him of interest to teams that like to spread the floor around their five-men, but Gafford is more smooth and lanky than he is functionally explosive, and his feet and hands are just average."

Jonathan Wasserman - Bleacher Report - Oct. 12th: "Gafford would give them an explosive finisher and shot-blocker, as well as a developing low-post option. He'll want to show more lateral quickness this season to convince scouts he's capable of switching out around the perimeter."

NBA Draft Room - Oct. 4th: "Gafford is not only an exceptional athlete for his size but he plays with great energy and really brings it on the court. He changes ends exceptionally well and is well suited to the modern NBA with his speed and shot blocking ability."

Jeremy Woo - Sports Illustrated - June 27th: "He put together quite a freshman season after coming in off the radar (18.8 points, 9.8 rebounds, 3.5 blocks per-36), and profiles as a rim-runner and shot-blocker with enough defensive mobility to play in the modern NBA. Gafford still lacks a level of polish and consistency and can be foul-prone."

Tristan Freeman - Busting Brakets - June 27th: "The 6’11 big man is a quality defender that will be the top offensive option for the team next year. Look for him to put up potentially 17-20 points a game for Arkansas next season while solidifying himself in the lottery."
