Deni Avdija
Ht/Wt: 6' 9" / 215 lbs
Position: SF
Team: Maccabi Tel Aviv
Class: Intl.

2020 Draft Profile - Deni Avdija

Jeremy Woo - Sept. 16th: "Teams are intrigued by Avdija’s potential to run pick and roll long-term at his size, and thanks to his passing ability there’s a pathway for him to be pretty useful, particularly if he figures out how to survive defensively. But there’s also a chance Avdija ends up as just an average shooter and gets targeted on the other end of the floor, which would be limiting long-term."

Gary Parrish - CBS Sports - July 6th: "He's a 19-year-old Israeli who performed well for Maccabi Tel Aviv in games leading up to the season being suspended. At 6-9, he's tall enough to play power forward and skilled enough to play on the wing. And his shooting has undeniably improved."

NBA Draft Room - July 6th: "He has an intriguing skill set with his ability to stroke the 3pt shot and score in the half court and he plays an all around game, has a decent physical build and is very quick up and down the court."

HashTag Basketball - July 1st: "He's a very skilled player who sees the floor well regardless of the situation he's put in. His rebounding allows him to start fast breaks with perfectly placed hit-aheads. "

USA Today - June 25th: "No longer a sleeper on draft boards, the overseas prospect with great size can play multiple positions and his versatility should intrigue several of the lottery teams."

NBA Draft Room - May 26th: "Deni is a creative offensive player who likes to get downhill and make plays off the dribble. If his 3pt shooting pans out he could be a star at the next level."

Kyle Boone - CBS Sports - May 26th: "He's also been a winner everywhere he's been. At just 19 years old, he's a two-time Israeli League champion and a two-time FIBA European champ."

Jeremy Woo - SI - May 6th: "He’s not an explosive athlete in tight spaces, nor is a he a creative ball-handler, which is going to limit his long-term ceiling. But the hope is that he’s a smart enough team defender to survive on that end, while growing into a plus offensive contributor as his frame fills out."

Jeff Goodman - Stadium - May 6th: "He’s versatile, possesses a high basketball IQ, can score, and also makes his teammates better. Avdija was the MVP of the FIBA U20 European Championship, and his biggest weakness is his perimeter shot."
