2020 Draft Profile - LaMelo Ball

Jeremy Woo - Sept. 16th: "Ball isn’t a fit for every team, but his rare combination of size, ball-handling and passing chops make him arguably the draft’s most entertaining player and one with a clear pathway to being a starting point guard."

Gary Parrish - CBS Sports - July 6th: "The 6-6 point guard, who is still only 18 years old, has broken out of his family's shadow and developed into an incredible playmaker and passer who fared well playing professionally in Australia this past season. The shooting percentages weren't great."

NBA Draft Room - July 6th: "LaMelo Ball is a flashy play-maker who brings a ton of excitement to the game. He isn’t blessed with great athleticism but his advanced skill level makes up for his athletic shortcomings and his size for position is a big plus."

HashTag Basketball - July 1st: "Ball is like a quarterback when running the half-court offense. He easily manipulates defenses with his eyes and passes guys open for easy buckets. Despite his unorthodox shooting form, Ball is a solid shooter. He has good touch on his shots and a nice array of floaters. "

USA Today - June 25th: "Ball only played 12 games in Australia's National Basketball League, but it was enough to entice a plethora of NBA scouts and rewrite the narrative his father had written poorly."

NBA Draft Room - May 26th: "LaMelo had a solid and at times spectacular season in the NBL and has likely solidified a high lottery selection. His defense remains a question mark and his shooting is erratic but his offensive play-making is truly special."

Kyle Boone - CBS Sports - May 26th: "The younger brother of Pelicans guard Lonzo Ball is a jumbo playmaker who has grown to 6-6 and has the playmaking chops to develop into a franchise-caliber lead guard in time. Despite some scoring inefficiencies from distance playing in the NBL, his high-level vision and feel for the game match where the NBA's moving."

Jeremy Woo - SI - May 6th: "He’s terrific in transition and profiles as a starting-caliber lead guard, but the skeptical view is that Ball has little history of actually being winning-conducive, and that he racked up counting stats more as a byproduct of high usage on a bad team."

Jeff Goodman - Stadium - May 6th: "He’s a creative passer who has tremendous court vision, and also has the ability to score — although he needs to work on his decision-making and also shooting efficiency. He’s got a high ceiling, but there are maturity concerns, as well as major questions on the defensive side of the ball."
