Obi Toppin
Ht/Wt: 6' 9" / 220 lbs
Position: SF/PF
Team: Dayton
Class: Soph.

2020 Draft Profile - Obi Toppin

Jeremy Woo - Sept. 16th: "He’s going to be more of a face-up big than low-post scorer, and his continued ability to hit corner threes and finish at a good clip is essential to his long-term success. Toppin is probably best off at power forward alongside a defensive-minded big."

Gary Parrish - CBS Sports - July 6th: "He's a super-athletic forward who dunks everything -- he actually led the nation in dunks -- and consistently makes jumpers in pick-and-pop situations. Yes, the fact that he's already 22 years old is an issue worth taking into account. But it will not -- or, at least, it should not -- overshadow the idea that Toppin has a chance to be the most impactful player selected in this draft."

NBA Draft Room - July 6th: "At 6-9 and 220 he’s a versatile offensive player. He scores within the flow of the offense, rebounds well and can stretch the floor. He’s an explosive above the rim player and great dunker, really bouncy."

HashTag Basketball - July 1st: "On offense, Toppin is skilled enough to operate on the perimeter and has the size to score in the post. He's shown an improved ability to score off the dribble, whether he is utilizing stepback threes or beating defenders to the rim on his drives. "

USA Today - June 25th: "At 22, Toppin is older than most of his counterparts so he might be close to his ceiling. But what's important: how his high motor and highlight-reel dunking translate at the next level."

NBA Draft Room - May 26th: "Obi is an offensive talent with great physical gifts. He's lethal in the pick and roll and has range on his jumper. His defense leaves a lot to be desired but he's got tools to work with."

Kyle Boone - CBS Sports - May 26th: "An above-the-rim forward in Obi Toppin who can make a winning impact with his athleticism and skill level, as evidenced last season when he led college basketball in dunks for a top-10 Dayton team."

Jeremy Woo - SI - May 6th: "Toppin needs to add lower body strength and doesn’t move all that well laterally right now, both of which will have to improve for him to keep doing what he’s doing against NBA bodies. He might be best off playing alongside another big, rather than at center, where teams will attack him in space."

Jeff Goodman - Stadium - May 6th: "He’s a big-time athlete who redshirted his freshman season in college and has really seen his game — and skill level — evolve over the past two years."
