Position: PG

Class: Soph.

2020 Draft Profile - Tre Jones

Jeremy Woo - Sept. 16th: "Jones had an excellent sophomore season at Duke and has a chance to make it as a potential NBA backup, bringing strong intangibles and excellent hands and anticipation on defense. He’s deceptively quick, distributes the ball well and plays extremely hard, but scouts are still somewhat split over what his upside actually is."

Gary Parrish - CBS Sports - July 6th: "There's nothing too flashy about Tre Jones. He doesn't create many highlights nor is he a great shooter. But he remains a terrific run-the-team point guard who really defends on one end of the court, and really creates opportunities for his teammates on the other."

NBA Draft Room - July 6th: "He’s been training for this his whole life. Playing the point guard position is all that Tre Jones knows. He’s a leader and a floor general par none and a guy who changes the dynamic of a team."

HashTag Basketball - July 1st: "Jones is one of, if not the, best defensive guards in the country. His lateral quickness and footwork are elite. On top of that, his awareness and anticipation are even more impressive. When he is guarding the ball handler, it seems like Jones knows where the opponent is going before he does."

USA Today - June 25th: "Jones, whose brother Tyus also played for Duke and now plays for the Memphis Grizzlies, defends, flourishes in the open court, is a willing passer with strong court vision and can score going to the rim. He will need to work on this 3-pointer."

NBA Draft Room - May 26th: "A dynamic play-maker with a great feel for the game and the ability to make his teammates better. Gets after it on defense and always makes the right play."

Kyle Boone - CBS Sports - May 26th: "In two seasons at Duke he led two top-10 offenses and managed to stand out with teammates like Zion Williamson, RJ Barrett, Vernon Carey and Cam Reddish."

Jeremy Woo - SI - May 6th: "He improved incrementally as a jump shooter, but is still not a dynamic perimeter scorer, which limits him to more of a game manager type role in the NBA. It’s hard to see him thriving without the ball in his hands at his size, and guards who can’t consistently space the floor tend to be liabilities."
