AJ Griffin
Ht/Wt: 6' 6" / 222 lbs
Position: SF
Team: Duke
Class: Freshman

2022 Draft Profile - AJ Griffin

Cody Taylor - USA Today - Apr. 9th: "He proved a great option off the ball for the Blue Devils and emerged as a strong shooter, converting on 44.7% from 3-point range. Griffin, who will not turn 19 until August, is one of the youngest players in the draft and is viewed as one of the most physical players with a 7-foot-2 wingspan."

Ricky O'Donnell - SB Nation - Apr. 5th: "Griffin’s shooting is a bankable skill, but the rest of his offensive value appears less certain. He looked a little stiff as a north-south driver, and posted a lowly 17.9 percent free throw rate this season."

Kyle Boone - CBS Sports - Mar. 16th: "The wing is a bulldog defender with a big frame who is hitting nearly half of his 3s as a freshman at Duke. His emergence late in the season has shown he's capable of creating and there's still a lot of untapped potential in his game, too."

Mike Schmitz - ESPN - Mar. 15th: "NBA teams will be closely monitoring whether the 18-year-old can put those tools to use on both ends of the floor, as he too often settles for perimeter jumpers and isn't nearly the type of versatile defender and rebounder his frame and length suggest he should be."

Bryan Kalbrosky - USA Today - Feb. 16th: "After joining the starting lineup on Jan. 12, the 18-year-old wing has proven himself as one of the most efficient scorers in the nation. He is shooting extremely well on catch-and-shoot jumpers, dribble jumpers, and when using off-ball screens."

Kyle Irving - Sporting News - Feb. 11th: "However, he scores effortlessly from all three levels of the floor. He uses his strength to his advantage with good body control when he drives the lane and can shoot it from deep, knocking down a blistering 48.6 percent of his 3s this season."

Ricky O'Donnell - SB Nation - Jan. 19th: "He has a huge frame for a wing that feels conservatively listed at 6’6, 220 pounds by the school. He’s shown incredible shot-making ability off the bounce dating back to his high school days, and he’s hit 44 percent of his threes in limited minutes at Duke this year."

Cody Taylor - The Rookie Wire - USA Today - Jan. 19th: "He would be one of the youngest players in the draft but would be viewed as one of the most physical players with a 7-foot-2 wingspan. Given his uneven season to this point, some are uncertain where he’ll fall in the draft. "

NBA Draft Room - Jan. 15th: "Griffin Jr. is an elite level prospect but has been plagued by injuries. Is starting to come on strong."

Jeremy Woo - SI - Jan. 13th: "Griffin has been efficient and selective as a scorer, but hasn’t showcased much of a complementary skill set yet, which is a likely requirement for him to inch toward the lottery. He’s strong but not overly quick or shifty."

Sam Vecenie - The Athletic - Jan. 6th: "He’s still a 6-foot-6 shot maker with a pro-ready frame, legitimate NBA athleticism and shooting ability. I think my bet would be that Griffin does not end up going in the No. 8 to No. 14 range on the draft."
