Chet Holmgren
Ht/Wt: 7' 0" / 195 lbs
Position: PF/C
Team: Gonzaga
Class: Freshman

2022 Draft Profile - Chet Holmgren

Cody Taylor - USA Today - Apr. 9th: "He also did things with the ball that 7-footers typically can’t do. On the other side, Holmgren proved elite on defense. He was a finalist for the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year award and tied the Gonzaga program record with 117 blocked shots."

Ricky O'Donnell - SB Nation - Apr. 5th: "An elite rim protector who can anchor a defense despite his thin frame. Holmgren’s scoring is a concern, but his excellent finishing at the rim and capable three-point shooting gives him a pathway to offensive value."

Kyle Boone - CBS Sports - Mar. 16th: "But Holmgren's ability to space the floor, create, and defend the rim at an elite level -- all on full display this season at Gonzaga -- may be too tantalizing to pass on here given his all-around impact on both ends"

Mike Schmitz - ESPN - Mar. 15th: " A shot-blocking, lob-catching, 3-point shooting, ballhandling 7-foot-1 "big man" with the fluidity of a guard and a relentlessness that doesn't match his slender, 195-pound frame."

Bryan Kalbrosky - USA Today - Feb. 16th: "He is currently shooting a staggering rate of 89.3% at the rim and 46.6% from beyond the arc. No other player since 2008 (minimum: 70 attempts in each zone) has ever even shot better than 80% at the rim and better than 40% on 3-pointers in the same season"

Kyle Irving - Sporting News - Feb. 11th: "The freshman 7-footer has really turned his game up a notch during conference play, starting to dominate on both ends of the floor. He's one of the best shot blockers in the nation, handles the ball like a guard and can shoot it from the outside."

Ricky O'Donnell - SB Nation - Jan. 19th: "Holmgren is simply one of the best rim protector prospects to hit the draft over the last decade. He’s a ferocious shot blocker with great timing, instincts, and hand-eye coordination who can challenge a shot even if he gets bumped off his spot."

Cody Taylor - The Rookie Wire - USA Today - Jan. 19th: "His unique blend of size and athleticism has also made him a terror in the paint. That is paying off with an average of 3.3 blocked shots per game. He has the tools to be elite on the defensive end of the floor while his offensive game is improving on a nightly basis."

NBA Draft Room - Jan. 15th: "Chet’s upside is tantalizing but his thin frame will always be a question mark. It remains to be seen how much strength/weight he can add."

Jeremy Woo - SI - Jan. 13th: "He has terrific instincts as a shot-blocker and good feet for his size, enabling him to change shots in a translatable manner despite his lack of physical strength."

Sam Vecenie - The Athletic - Jan. 6th: "He’s unbelievable on that end for a few reasons. The first is attitude. He has an exceptional mentality. He’s skinny at 195 pounds, but he doesn’t back down from anyone and is utterly fearless."
