2024 Draft Profile - Ja'Kobe Walter

Kevin O'Connor - The Ringer - June 17th: "Dynamic perimeter shooter who thrives off screens and handoffs and can use hesitations to get into pull-ups and sidesteps. With a smooth form, high elevation, and fearlessness, he has all the traits of a confident go-to scorer who can drain shots even when under pressure."

NBA Draft Room - June 16th: "A high-scoring 2-guard with big time talent and athleticism who can really stroke the 3-ball. Has s crystal clear NBA role as a perimeter shot-maker. If his to-the-basket game improves it’ll take his game to a new level."

Jeremy Woo - ESPN - June 7th: "He doesn't have a flashy set of skills or elite size for a wing and plays primarily off the ball, which puts a bit of a damper on starry upside projections. Still, teams feel comfortable with what he brings to the court, and strong workouts could solidify his standing in the top 14 picks."

Sam Vecenie - The Athletic - June 5th: "Scouts are split on Walter’s upside. Most don’t see him as a star, but they disagree on whether he’s a long-term NBA starter or merely a rotation player. Those who believe he will a high-level shooter despite making just 34.1 percent from 3 last season tend to be buyers."

Colin Ward-Henninger - CBS Sports - June 4th: "Walter is an intriguing scorer who seems like a better shooter than his 34% mark last season at Baylor would suggest. It might take some time, but with his 6-foot-10 wingspan, he could develop into an elite defender in the vein of Kentavious Caldwell-Pope."

Zach Buckley - Bleacher Report - June 4th: "Ja'Kobe Walter is an electric, 19-year-old shot-maker with the footwork to catch and fire on the move and the handles to free himself in spurts. He isn't a defensive stopper at the moment, but he could become one with the right amount of development."

Jonathan Wasserman - Bleacher Report - May 30th: "He's going to get pegged with a safe label that sees a three-and-D 2-guard who can defend both wing positions. The lack of creation and playmaking may just make it tougher for teams to picture upside worth a top-10 pick."
