Position: PG/SG
Team: Illinois
Class: Freshman

2025 Draft Profile - Kasparas Jakucionis

The Ringer - May 27th: "Jakucionis fits a flattering Euro stereotype for guards in that he has an almost joyous bobbing rhythm in the way he moves with the ball—a command for starting and stopping that really puts defenders in a less joyous place. Jakucionis, despite having credible size for his position, isn’t exceptionally long or blazingly fast."

Kyle Boone - CBS Sports - May 23rd: "Jakucionis could help reset the position with a true lead guard who has tools to elevate talent around him."

NBA Draft Room - May 22nd: "He projects as a likely starter who could develop into an All Star if things go right. His outside shot is streaky and will have to improve if he’s going to reach that All Star level potential but he’s a safe bet to be a good NBA player for a long time."

Kevin O'Connor - Yahoo! Sports - May 12th: "Jaku?ionis is a slick shot creator with a creative passing gene and a fearless scoring ability, carving up defenses with crafty finishes, step-back jumpers and jaw-dropping passes. But as a freshman he’d follow up those highlights with turnover brain-farts that derail the hype train."

Jeremy Woo - ESPN - March 25th: "Jakucionis' season ended on an uneven note, playing well in a first-round win against Xavier in which he finished one rebound short of a triple-double (16 points, 10 assists, 9 rebounds), but struggling in Illinois' loss to Kentucky. NBA executives haven't forgotten how good he was early in the season, but he struggled to make shots from long range down the stretch (24.5% over his final 10 games) and recorded six turnovers in each of his last four performances."

NBA Draft Room - March 22nd: "Jaku had an incredibly strong start to the season but has fallen off a bit over the past month. He’s really good with the ball in his hands and is a threat to score whenever he touches the ball."

Jeremy Woo - ESPN - March 13th: "There's still plenty to like about Jakucionis' makeup and playmaking savvy, but scouts have also been wary of his streaky scoring and bouts of sloppiness with turnovers. (He averaged 3.4 turnovers a game.) Making a successful jump to the Big Ten as an 18-year-old is impressive in its own right, but he can help his case with a good showing against top competition in the NCAA tournament."

Kyle Boone - CBS Sports - March 12th: "Jakucionis' production has tailed off from a hot start to the season -- due at least in part to team injuries and attrition -- but my evaluation has largely not changed. He's a big guard who wins with finesse and craftiness."

Jonathan Wasserman - Bleacher Report - March 11th: "In some games, he looks in complete control with his pacing and ability to hit tough step-backs and body-controlled finishes. And then there are contests in which he struggles to get himself shots and ball pressure can lead to turnovers."

USA Today - March 11th: "Jakucionis is a playmaker – a scorer and passer. He has range with a nice 3-ball, can shoot off the dribble from deep, including on step-back 3s, and looks for an open teammate when he draws multiple defenders."
