2014 Draft Profile - Nik Stauskas

Nik Stauskas is another Canadian that decided to play basketball and not hockey. The man can flat out shoot. The Big Ten Conference Player of the Year in 2014, Nik improved his all round game showing that he can drive the lane and finish strong as well as be reliable from beyond the arc.

A Michigan fan favorite, Stauskas also makes his teammates better with his unselfish play and winning attitude. At home in Canada, Nik would play in his back yard court honing his skills in the winter cold and playing every chance he could get. A bucket of hot water was placed out side to warm his hands when it was too cold to shoot and dribble. Stauskas loves the game and it shows with his dedication and desire to learn and improve.

At the next level his athleticism and shooting will help him be effective as he works himself into the rotation. Nik will go hard every chance he gets to play as a rookie. He could likely take control at the point if needed, but of course is more comfortable as a 2.

Nik is the type of player that can fit into many systems and be able to contribute right away.
