Tyler Ennis
Ht/Wt: 6' 2" / 180 lbs
Position: PG
Team: Syracuse
Class: Freshman

2014 Draft Profile - Tyler Ennis

Strengths:
Pure point guard who is mature beyond his years. Can run an offense at an NBA level already. Quick first step allows him to get into the lane but can also change pace well. Great vision to go along with a very team oriented lead guard who likes to pass as much as score. When in the lane he can score with either hand and has a nice floater that will keep big men from blocking his shot.

Shot it very well from deep for most of the season but slightly hit a wall towards the end of the season. Doesn’t turn the ball over and is not a risky player. Knows what to do in a pick and roll situation and runs it well. Has no problem shooting off the dribble or firing off a catch and shoot.

At Syracuse we didn’t get to see a lot of him in man defense but he played the passing lanes to perfection. Mature for a 19-year old and stepped up when the his team needed a big bucket, also wasn’t afraid to take the shot.

Weaknesses:
Doesn’t possess elite athleticism and lacks foot speed needed to guard some NBA point guards. Syracuse defense aided him, can he guard elite guys at the next level? Jump shot wasn’t falling as much late, just something to watch in an 82 game season. Not a big time scorer at the NBA level.

Very thin frame which would allow him to get posted up. Good length will help him make up for his faults on the defensive end, but teams will surely be watching this in the private one-on-one workouts.

Most of his weakness is in the athleticism category. Can Ennis score just off his hesitation and fakes?

Stats:
PPG: 12.9 RBG: 3.4 APG: 5.5 SPG: 2.1 BPG: 0.2 FG%: 41.1 FT%: 76.5 3PT%: 35.3

Perhaps no college prospect has elevated their pro stock as much as Tyler Ennis. Label him a winner as a MVP for the highly successful Syracuse squad due to his steady, clutch, PG play. As a FROSH from Canada, playing in the ultra competitive ACC, Ennis has shown unshakable confidence. He has a great feel for game and even able to take over at times. Looks like he can be an effective pick and roll guy and outside shooter. Coaches and teammates will love his value of each possession, unselfishness and ability to create turnovers on defense.

His ceiling isnt as high as many other prospects this year. Doesnt look like he has the athleticism to put up the big numbers like the top PGs in the league, and may struggle defensively against NBA starters. At 6' 2", 180 pounds, his measurements will not impress you.

NBA comps- Mario Chalmers, Mike Bibby
